Having a balanced pelvis, one free of tightness and
restriction, is one of the core principles of Myofascial
Release (MFR).It should be no surprise that pelvic
disorders can often successfully be treated tolerated. A
huge disservice is done when urinary leakage is blamed
entirely on menopause, childbirth, or simply advancing age.
Pelvic pain and dysfunction does not have to be endured.
Very often scar tissue that resulted from a cesarean section,
hysterectomy, or other pelvic surgery can create crushing
pressures that cause tightness in the pelvis, creating back or
pelvic pain, bowel or bladder changes, painful sex,
infertility, as well as more far reaching problems. Pain from
prostatitis, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, and tail bone
difficulties can be treated effectively. Traditional physical
therapy interventions focus on "training" or strengthening
the pelvic floor and pelvic region. The problem with this
model of thinking is that often the soft tissue and
musculature is already too tight. It is not too weak, it is too
tight! Free up the tissue and muscle and your body can
function normally again and without pain.

Scar Tissue

Pain and dysfunction due to the short and long term effects of scar issue, surgical and
non-surgical, can be profound. Imagine your body as a large sweater. Take a fistful of that
sweater. The yarn that is contained within your hand represents the scar itself. Imagine now
how threads of yarn from other parts of the sweater get pulled into the palm of your hand.
This is how scar tissue can effect you. The scar itself can be problematic, but the
far-reaching effects of scarring can reach into far off places, causing pain or compromised
motion and function.

Scar tissue assessment is a standard component of the evaluation model at the Pain Relief
Center. If restrictions due to scar tissue are identified, Myofascial Release is an effective
modality to reduce or eliminate these restrictions.
